Circle of Change

Here is a tribute to the legendary Celtic symbol, reflecting on the continuous transformational journey of life. The picture on the side is of the one at Newgrange passage tomb which is about 5500 years old.The triple spiral symbol was  key part of Celtic Reconstructionist Paganism and often understood to be the “three realms” – Land, Sea and Sky which power life.

In another the version of these depictions, constructed from mathematical Archimedean spirals, the three double spirals branch out into partial circular arcs, seamlessly moving from one spiral to another. This suggest the linkage across birth, life, death and to the rebirth. This might give us a perspective that while change is always there, we circle back to the beginning to reinvent new things. It is only change that creates the ‘new’, all from within itself. It is like the Phoneix rising from the ashes.

Coming back to the Celtics, the Irish Megalithic and Neolithic sites have Celtic marking of triple spiral (triskele), also often a symbol associated with god Manannán . This symbol is known to exist even in pre-Celtic times and was later also found in Celtic Christian menuscripts. Few today indirectly link it to Christian Trinity.

This website and set of writings are dedicated to reciting this story of our change and what we have with us to remember and witness.
